Barite occurs in a large number of depositional environments, deposited through a large number of processes including biogenic, hydrothermal, and evaporation. Barite is a heavy mineral and it’s main use is as a ‘Heavy Mud’ in drilling deep holes. The added advantages of being non- magnetic and soft make it most desirable for this job. Barite is also used in sugar refining (barium Hydroxide), in textiles, paint and paper. Metaphysical Healers say Barite initiates independence, motivation and personal freedom. Used in recovery from addictions. Encourages one to pursue ones dreams. Excellent for promoting harmonious relationships.
